Number of Subsidized Housing Units Per 1000 Local Residents

Time Range: 2008       Resolution: Town

The concentration of subsidized housing measures the number of subsidized housing units per 1000 persons in a geographic area.

Historical and contemporary housing policies concentrate affordable housing in segregated, opportunity poor communities. Research suggests that this concentration further depresses the life outcomes for low income subsidized housing residents (who are primarily people of color).
