This indicator measures the percent of the population that is registered to vote.

Rationale

The percent of registered voters is traditionally used as a measure of social equity and sustainability of a community1. It indicates the amount of civic involvement in a community and a proxy indicator of participation in community life. Active communities with high social equity and sustainability are more likely to greater resources and support networks that can affect many social factors linked to health outcomes.
